A small consignment of Lynton porcelain will feature in a May 26 sale at Paul Beighton Auctioneers in Thurcroft, South Yorkshire.

This coffee can and saucer shown above, estimated at £250-350, was designed by Stefan Nowacki and is painted with a circular panel of flowers and gilded over a two-tone stripped blue ground.

Nowacki was employed as a painter and gilder at the Royal Crown Derby works until 1980, when he left to establish the Lynton Porcelain Company in Derby.

A first edition, first issue, copy of HG Wells’ science-fiction novel The War of the Worlds will go under the hammer in a books, maps, manuscripts and photography sale at Lawrences of Crewkerne on June 8 in Somerset.

It was published in 1898 by William Heinemann of London. The book is estimated at £250-350.

Shown above, this small-scale 21½in x 2ft 2in (55 x 66cm) Art Nouveau stained pine hanging corner cupboard, made in the style of Rennie Mackintosh, features stylised brass applied panels and blue enamel jewels.

It is estimated at £300-500 in Hutchinson Scott’s May 25-26 sale in Skipton, North Yorkshire.
