Chairs were a notable feature of the JL Mollers Mobelfabrik company founded in 1944 by Danish designer Niels Otto Møller (1920-82). His furniture made in teak or rosewood is highly representative of the Danish post-war style.
A set of six model 75 teak dining chairs, c.1960, is estimated at €1000-1500 at Adam’s November 13 auction in Dublin. They feature original Danish cord seats with maker’s stamp underneath.

This 18th century English school view, above, on offer in Lyon & Turnbull’s November 14 auction in Edinburgh is of Brighton Chain Pier, which was built between 1822-23. It measured 350 yards long and 13ft wide, and acted as an embarkation point for cross-Channel ships.
It was, however, exposed to the elements and the coming of the railways and the more sheltered aspect of Newhaven port spelt its demise. The pier was declared unsafe in October 1896.
On December 4, 1896, a ‘terrific storm of wind, with some rain’ blew all day. At about 10.30pm, ‘suddenly, amid the roaring waves and the howling of the wind, the pier shivered convulsively from end to end’. In a few moments the entire structure had collapsed.
