Damaging nice frames by sticking labels on them is certainly a problem, but many auction houses also stick their labels on bronze sculptures which pull off the patina when removed.
These patinas have often built up over decades and are impossible to accurately restore, sometimes wiping £1000s off the value of the bronzes.

MADAM – I wholeheartedly agree with Mr James. I have even seen sticky labels on canvases, loose watercolours and prints.
