Animal depictions from the ancient world form a major theme in a sale of antiquities at Bonhams New Bond Street on November 28.
The large selection of pieces, sourced from multiple properties, depict both exotic and domestic animals from ancient Egypt, Italy, Greece and elsewhere.
Among the ‘more affordable’ entries is a pair of c.1st century BC Parthian silver earrings in the form of horses, offered with another pair of Parthian earrings, guided at £1000-1500.
Nearly a dozen works by figurative sculptor Tom Merrifield (b.1932) will be included in Catherine Southon’s sale in Selsdon, Surrey, on November 28.
Australian-born Merrifield was a classically trained ballet dancer who appeared in many West End shows in the 1960s before an accident ended his professional career.
He turned to sculpting, starting out with coat hangers and wax before learning to cast in bronze.
This 12in (30cm) high figure of a nude ballerina on pointe above, c.1968, is guided at £400-600.

John Sergeant (1937- 2010) – Sketches, Scribbles, Self-portraits and other Surprises is the title of a new exhibition at Florian Härb, London specialist dealer in master drawings and paintings.
This 12½ x 19in (32 x 48cm) coloured chalk work on paper of a St Bernard, above, by the late London-born draughtsman is priced at £1200.
The exhibition takes place in Duke Street in St James’s and will coincide with London Art Week, held from November 29-December 7.
This 19th century Spanish guitar above was made by the distinguished luthier Louis Panormo (1784-1862) in 1824.
The French-born Panormo and his brothers were regarded among the finest guitar makers working in 19th century England and the only luthiers outside Spain making guitars in the Spanish style.
Donated as a gift to a Dorset charity, the guitar, numbered 427, has been consigned to Sherborne saleroom Charterhouse and will be offered for sale on December 14. Estimate £1000-2000.
