1. Depicting an unidentified bridge, this 19 x 14½in (49 x 37cm) oil on canvas study, bearing a Grosvenor Gallery label, was painted in 1880 by Irish artist John O’Connor (1830-1889). It made double the guide at Tennants of Leyburn on September 22.

2. This 5 x 6½in (13 x 16cm) pen ink and wash of St Peters in the Vatican by Scottish architect Basil Spence (1907-76) dates to October 1959, the year he was commissioned to design the British Embassy in Rome. The drawing tipped over top estimate at Glasgow saleroom Great Western Auctions, on September 22.

3. This 12 x 18½in (30 x 47cm) watercolour of St Michael’s Mount in Cornwall by prolific English watercolourist Edward Wesson (1910-1983) was painted at a meeting of the North Weald Art Group in Reigate in the mid-1970s. It sold over estimate at Burstow & Hewett on September 20 in Battle, East Sussex.
