The illustrated soft-paste, hand-painted pot pourri depicts Longwood, Napoleon’s house on St Helena, and the image is copied from an Ackermann print of 1817.
Experts at the V&A and other specialist museums have so far ruled out as origins: Swansea, Nantgarw, Spode, Minton, Worcester (Flight, Barr, Grainger, Chamberlain) and Bloor Derby.
There has been a suggestion that it might be a product of a lesser-known Staffordshire factory, and that it might have been sent out for decoration.
Does anyone have any ideas?
