It includes the address 6 Rue Royale for the Bijouterie Fouquet, the building designed in the Art Nouveau style by Alphonse Mucha that opened in 1901 and stood until it was dismantled in 1923, when the Art Nouveau style was at its fashionable nadir.

A very similar hair pin by Fouquet, cleverly using the natural contours of cut shell to form the petals of the flower, was pictured in a 1912 advert in Ornements De Coiffure.

Offered by Dreweatts (25% buyer’s premium) in Donnington Priory with an estimate of £800-1200, it sold at £5700.
