This Samourai 1947 frame handbag was released in a limited edition to celebrate 60 years of the House of Dior as part of its 2007 Fall Collection.
The then head Dior designer, John Galliano, incorporated Japanese artistic elements into the design, which featured an elaborate dark brown basket woven leather exterior, a textured looping top handle with decorative acrylic serpents and a top-hinged lacquer frame with a latch fastening.
The bag comes complete with its maintenance guide, authenticity card, dust bag and box and is estimated at £700-900 at Fellows’ Designer Collection auction in Birmingham on April 29.

A Country House auction at Shrewsbury saleroom Halls on May 15 will include a private collection of Dutch ‘Golden Age’ drawings from the 17th century and a selection of Modern 20th century prints by artists such as Graham Sutherland, James Abbott McNeil Whistler and Henri Matisse. Many were purchased by the vendor from the London salerooms in the 1970s and are returning to auction for the first time since then.
A highlight at £500-700 is this 8 x 10½in (19.5 x 27cm) pen and brown ink drawing of an Italianate landscape attributed to Johannes Glauber (c.1646-1726).
Glauber produced such works for a growing mercantile class in Amsterdam who were keen to adorn their walls with classical subjects.
Lydia Corbett (b.1934) – also known as Sylvette David – was Pablo Picasso’s muse, depicted as ‘the girl with the ponytail’ in his Sylvette series of paintings. She is also an artist and potter in her own right.
A private collection of Corbett’s ceramics and pictures amounting to more than 30 lots will be offered at Doncaster saleroom Wilkinson’s on April 28. Leading the group are two ink and watercolour portraits contained in a single 2ft 9in x 3ft 11in (85cm x 1.2m) frame.

A large collection of castle-top boxes by the Birmingham silversmith Nathaniel Mills has been consigned to Kent saleroom Westenhanger Auctioneers on May 5.
Assembled ‘over a lifetime’, the group contains 26 vinaigrettes, snuff boxes and card cases including five three-dimensional calling card cases depicting the Royal Exchange, the Scott Memorial in Edinburgh and St George’s Chapel Windsor. Estimates range from £200-2000.
This rare double-sided castle-top calling card case, stamped Birmingham 1843, depicts Windsor Castle and Abbotsford House, the residence of historical novelist and poet Sir Walter Scott in the Scottish Borders. It carries an estimate of £1000-1500.
