A Roman mask offered by TimeLine Auctions, estimated at £80,000-100,000.
Dating from the late 2nd or early 3rd century AD, it bears similarities to the famed Crosby Garrett parade helmet which sold at Christie’s for £1.9m in 2010.
A report by the conservation specialist who restored the mask concludes that it is probably made by the same craftsman, or at least from the same workshop.
