This monumental bronze bust of Winston Churchill is the last cast of a limited edition of six taken from the famous full-size likeness by Ivor Roberts-Jones (1913-96) in Parliament Square.

The edition, made from a plaster mould of the head and shoulders, was produced posthumously on behalf of the Trustees of the Ivor Roberts-Jones Estate and with the authorisation of Margaret Thatcher.

The 3ft 1in (95cm) high bronze will be offered in a one-off sale of Modern and Contemporary sculpture at Dreweatts in Donnington Priory, Newbury, on July 16 and will be on view at The Sculpture Park in Farnham, Surrey.

Roberts-Jones’ 9ft (2.74m) tall statue of Churchill in Parliament Square was unveiled in 1973. It was praised for its directness and honesty and has been described as one of the grandest works of public sculpture in Britain by The Times.

Estimate £200,000-300,000.
