Jill (my wife) and I had a lot of fun collecting her abstract designs in the 1980s-90s and it was the fashion at the time that if you found a new design you got to name it. The ‘Sunspots’ pattern mentioned in the article was one of our finds, as was ‘Cafe’.
In those pre-internet days it meant searching anywhere and everywhere for a find but it was very rewarding when you got a hit. Viewing the Christie’s auctions with Mark Wilkinson and Michael Jeffery was always a buzz too.
The article brought back many memories and had one omission. In your list of further reading you didn’t mention the large-format book I designed for Des Jones and Richard Green: The Rich Designs of Clarice Cliff.
Although produced in 1995 (ISBN 0952635410) it is still available if you search hard and is a good read. Well, I would say that!
