One of 250 copies on vélin d’Arches of Le Poème de l’angle droit, published by Tériade of Paris in 1955, it sold for €8500 (£6540) in a March 30 sale of prints and modern books held by Venator & Hanstein (23% buyer’s premium) of Cologne.

This work has been described as “a tour de force in modern book production, containing Le Corbusier’s only illustrations, drawn by the artist to accompany his own text [and] lithographed as written out in his own hand”.

The binding is the work of Arthur W Johnson (1920-2004), a leading British bookbinder and author of several books on the art of craft fine binding.
