1 What is your area of focus?
I buy and sell 18th and 19th century books, mostly classic titles, in leather bindings in wonderful condition. I’ve been doing this for over 40 years and luckily for me there has always been a healthy demand if the quality and price are right.
2 What is encouraging about the trade this year?
The great potential of being shot of EU red tape is an opportunity we should relish. However, one challenge facing the trade is the lack of knowledge and expertise in the marketplace.
3 What is the best exhibition you have visited recently?
The Paris Book Fair in the Grand Palais a month ago – a splendid display of magnificent books and prints, though with not much trading going on… comme d’hab.
4 What is one question you wish people would ask before buying?
Could I find a better copy for less money?
5 One object you couldn’t do without?
My wallet.
