This monumental late 19th century, three-piece presentation silver centrepiece made by Horace Woodward & Co, London 1894, is estimated at $16,000-20,000 at Thomaston Place Auction Galleries on August 29-30.

It was made by Horace Woodward & Co, London 1894, and comprises three detachable oval bowls, each decorated in repoussé with shells and foliage set on a large base.

The bowls are engraved with the arms and motto of the City of Cork and the central cartouche of the base has an inscription reading Presented by the Citizens of Cork to the Right Worshipful the Mayor, Alderman Augustine Roche, in recognition of his distinguished services to the City during his tenure of office for the years 1893 & 1894.

The centrepiece features in the second day of the Summer’s Bounty auction to be held by Thomaston Place Auction Galleries in Maine on August 29-30. The estimate is $16,000-20,000.
