An 18th century saintly sign sold for €1800 (£1635) at Hôtel des Ventes de Nîmes.
The 2ft 1in x 19in (65 x 48cm) double-sided sign, described as having damage and restorations, is painted with a figure of St Barbara with her signature attribute of a tower.
The dated inscription A SAINCTE BARBE, A BON LOGIS A PIED ET A CHEVAL 1743.
It sold for €1800 (£1635) against a €500-700 guide on November 27.
