A gold repoussé sewing etui, c.1750, is among the variety of antiques offered online by Pieces of Time. These small ornamental cases were used for holding needles, cosmetics and other articles. Contained in this example, offered for £6500, are a pair of gold-handled scissors, bodkins, a razor, pencil and notepad.
The exterior is a chased and engraved repoussé body of 22-carat gold depicting figures and putti in rococo borders. The hinged lid is lined with red velvet.
