As well as adding features such as the Royal Festival Hall, the border was reworked with the coats of arms of each borough replacing Commonwealth coats of arms, a symbolic shift from depicting London as the capital of the empire.
The map is populated with historical figures, London ‘types’ and visitors asking directions.
