Fieldings’ Decades of Design sale in Stourbridge on March 7 marks the firm’s 25th specialist Clarice Cliff auction. Consigned is a single-owner collection from South Africa, together with further entries from US, Canada and UK.

An 8in (20cm) octagonal plate, painted with graduated circular motifs over a banded and abstract ground with red and black banding, carries both the standard Bizarre mark and a hand painted Sample mark. One of only two known pieces in this pattern (named the Geometric Buttons design), it is estimated at £800-1200.

This Victorian vesta case above by Deakin & Francis (Birmingham 1891) includes an enamel depiction of the golfer ‘Old Tom Morris’ to one side and to the other a presentation inscription reading County Golf Club Prize/ Oct 91.

It is estimated at £1000-1500 in Lyon & Turnbull’s auction in Edinburgh on March 10.
