1. Tiger textile in Exeter
This large Regency silk and woolwork picture was among the most popular lots in the single-owner sale conducted by Bearnes Hampton & Littlewood in Exeter on March 10.
Bursting with naive charm, the 2ft 5in x 2ft 9in (72 x 82cm) textile worked with a tiger walking with head lowered across a landscape, was estimated at a modest £800-1200 but sold for £7400.
The 481-lot sale comprised furniture and works of art displayed by Roderick and Valentine Butler at their home, Marwood House in Honiton.
2. Bitong in East Sussex

A Kangxi blue and white bitong c.1700-15, finely painted with a scholar and his attendants in his studio and to the reverse with a poem, sold for £35,000 (estimate £10,000-15,000) at Gorringe’s in Lewes on March 10.
The 7in (18cm) brush pot includes the private studio seal mark mu shi (bamboo and rock), a favourite name of Qing scholars.
3. Greek Orthodox mitre in Chiswick
A Greek Orthodox mitre in a fitted red leather case, £14,000 at Chiswick Auctions.
A Greek Orthodox silver gilt, diamond and gemset mitre in a fitted red leather case sold for £14,000 (estimate £5000-8000) at Chiswick Auctions on March 10. The coronet, adorned with four silver gilt icons depicting the four Evangelists and their attributes, is inscribed for Jeremias III, patriarch of Constantinople for two periods from 1716-26 and from 1732-33.
