Moscow-based Ruckert was a major supplier to the famous firm of Fabergé, although he also supplied other Russian firms.
A 5¾in (14.5cm) wide oval bombé shaped enamelled silver-gilt bowl, Moscow 1908-17, was a Ruckert creation retailed by Fabergé.
It featured his shaded enamel decoration of flowers and foliage and two handles modelled as bear’s heads and was the sale highlight, selling for a within-estimate $35,000 (£28,000) at the auction on April 28.
A 9½in (24cm) wide Ruckert silver-gilt and enamel traditional drinking vessel or kovsh made for Fabergé and with a 1908-17 mark was another of the top lots, selling for $22,500 (£18,000).
Picasso ceramics
A complete Picasso pottery fish service, designed in 1947 and made at the Madoura pottery – $50,000 (£40,000) at Doyle.
The following day in Doyle’s sale of prints and multiples it was the turn of ceramics by Pablo Picasso to hold centre stage.
A Vase, Aztèque aux quatre visages, numbered 26/100 from a 1957 limited edition produced by the Madoura pottery, realised $62,500 (£50,000) The 21¾in (55cm) high vase, a creation inspired by Peruvian pottery, was also stamped Edition Picasso and Madoura Plein Feu and incised Edition Picasso/Madoura.
The sale also featured a complete 26-piece Poisson (Fish) service which was an early Madoura pottery production of a Picasso design of 1947, a year after the artist first visited the pottery.
Each piece is numbered 45 from an edition of 300; inscribed Edition Picasso and had the D’Après Picasso and Madoura Plein Feu stamps. Complete services are rare to find and this one realised $50,000 (£40,000).
