The sales, previously scheduled as live events in April, run from June 2-19.
Among the key consignments are more than 60 pieces of ancient art from the collection of the late James and Marilynn Alsdorf. Previously adorning the couple’s Chicago home, the works will now be offered in a single-owner sale.
A copy of The Baltimore Patriot and Evening Advertiser dated September 21, 1814, is estimated at $300,000-500,000.
Its significance? It included the first printing of the words for a song called The Defense of Fort McHenry, the original title of what is now known as The Star-Spangled Banner.

Katz sale at Sotheby’s
Another important online sale will open for bidding from May 20-27 as Sotheby’s offers 140 lots from the collection of London dealer Daniel Katz. It features antiquities, Old Masters, 19th century paintings, Modern British art and European sculpture.
The sale of 10 of the works will aid two national charities, Refuge and Trussell Trust.
