Hille sideboard – priced £7350 at The Design Gallery.
Hille & Co was in the top flight of English furniture makers in the 1930s alongside the Epstein Brothers.
This piece is dated to 1938, six years after the founder’s daughter Ray Hille took over the business from her father Salamon Hille.
Described at its creation as the ‘modern sideboard in burr maple veneers with ebonised detailing and a mahogany interior’, it retailed at £35.10s.
This luxury piece now has an infinitely more modern price tag of £7350.
