American game and toymakers were major buyers of the speciality cardboard produced by Newman & Co, the cardboard manufacturing and recycling business started by his grandfather in 1918.
Around 270 lots of predominantly American board games from the collection will go under the hammer alongside American folk art as part of first instalment of the Bud and Judy Newman collection to be offered by Pook & Pook on April 23 in Downingtown, Pennsylvania.
They span some of the earliest board games from the 1820s through to baseball and American Football games from early 20th century.
Pictured here is the Game of the Man in the Moon from c.1901 from the firm of McLoughlin Bros of New York. The gameboard is inset in a wood framed box measuring 14 x 15in (35.5 x 38cm) and comes with coloured wooden game pieces.
It has an estimate of $1500-2000.
