SAS beret that belonged to Major Royston George Ball – among a group of medals and related items sold for £14,000 at British Bespoke Auctions.
Consigned by a private vendor and estimated at £3000-5000 in Gloucestershire on July 15, they were given to Major Royston George Ball MBE who saw action in various theatres and actions in the 1950s-60s, primarily in the Middle East and south-east Asia.

He served in the 1st Kings Royal Rifle Corps, The Parachute Regiment and later the 22nd SAS Regiment.
Items also sold in this lot included an SAS plaque engraved Major R.G Ball MBE All Ranks 23rd SAS December 1971 and his original SAS beret with cloth cap badge.
