Avalokiteshvara is one of the most popular deities in the tradition of Mahayana Buddhism. Figures of the god of goodness and mercy are easy to recognise; the deity has up to a thousand arms and 10 crowned heads, which represent the different stages of enlightenment.

The 18th century figure is surmounted by the head of Buddha Amitabha. The hands of the primary arms are joined in a Namaskara blessing, while six secondary arms bear various attributes and the remaining arms radiate around the standing deity.

Estimate €60,000-80,000.
