They were the first joint rulers in England for over 800 years, although Philip II and Mary I had appeared on English coinage together.
This is one of the finest known examples of this short series. It has been graded by the Professional Coin Grading Service as MS62 with only four others receiving a higher rating.
At London Coin Auctions on December 6, it sold at £135,000.
The buyer's premium was 17%.
