Volvo PV 444 diecast toy by Geno – £2200 at Gildings.
It made only Volvo models, first under the brand Lenyko and later Geno, before its Gothenburg factory, opened in 1957, burned down just six years later.
It is thought maybe 10,000 of the toys were made but they are not often seen now. This Geno example offered by Gildings (20% buyer’s premium) in Market Harborough on November 10 was catalogued as in mint and boxed condition.
The Volvo sold for £2200 against an estimate of £120-180.
