'High Priest', a steel sculpture by Michael Lyons, priced at £70,000 at London gallery Willoughby Gerrish.
High Priest, which is available to buy for £70,000, is typical of the Yorkshire-based sculptor’s large-scale steel creations, which were inspired by his connection with the surrounding landscape.
The ability to produce sculpture in the outdoors provided Lyons with, in his own words, “the freedom to cut metal and smoke cigars”.
Willoughby Gerrish, which has represented the artist’s estate since last year, chose the Lyons sculptures to headline its first exhibition at the sculpture park. The site is run by the gallery and covers over 20 acres of open parkland, woodland, formal and walled gardens.
The exhibition runs until September 25 and also includes works by Austin Wright, Geoffrey Clarke, Gerald Laing, Richard Hudson and Emily Young.
