Late Ming (17th century) jade water pot in the form of a chimera – estimate £5000-8000 at Dreweatts on May 19.
Measuring 5in (12cm) long, it is carved from a pale celadon stone with some pale brown and black inclusions.
It comes for sale from the daughter of a gentleman who began collecting jade while working in the Far East, with the proceeds going to the Alzheimer’s Society.
The chimera is a fire-breathing female monster with a lion’s head, goat’s body and serpent’s tail.
Estimate £5000-8000.
