Its sale on May 26-29 is no exception with the final day featuring pieces from the collection of Ann and Robert Fromer which include some rare sought-after examples.
One of them is this George Jones large comport measuring 14in x 14in (35 x 35cm) with a turquoise bowl supported on a tree trunk stem with figures of a stag and a giraffe set on a circular base. It is a rare model from a set of ‘Continents’ comports and has an estimate of $20,000-25,000.
The collection also features comports for Europe, modelled with two deer and a rabbit to the stem, and America, modelled with a buffalo and a gopher emerging from its burrow. These are estimated at $4000-6000 and $9000- 12,000 respectively.
