1 How did you get your start?
Out of a personal tragedy: I lost my husband and walked away from a demanding job. Had I realised that trading in antiques could be a profession, I would have been in this trade all my working life.
2 Have you noticed any collecting trends in the last 6-12 months?
Collecting Blue John has markedly increased, especially for finer and early pieces.
3 What is one great discovery you’ve made?
My current great discovery is an Austrian pomander for a child’s bedroom in enamel, silver-gilt, with a charming, pierced work grille. Dating to around 1900, this is a delightful piece.

4 One lesson you would pass on to a newcomer in the trade?
The one lesson I would pass on is never trade in damaged goods as they will come back to haunt you. Occasional sympathetic restoration is fine, but always buy items in as near original condition as possible.
