The statue was offered by Melody Antiques sold for a price in excess of £2000, and was among a number of good results reported across the event from April 7-10.

The first day brought nearly 2000 visitors, queueing up to visit the 125 galleries in attendance. Several of them, such as Dovecote Antiques and Antiques 24, dubbed it their best fair ever.

Among the significant reported sales was a painting which Julian Eade sold for a price in excess of £10,000 and clock specialist Richard Price parted with one piece for £9000.

Art deco specialist Jeroen Markies reported almost selling out his stand.

Duncan Phillips, who also does PR for the fair, shared a stand with Adrian Phippen trading as Altus Arts and counted a signed Tracy Emin etching, which went to a private collector for £550, among his sales.

The next NEC fair runs from November 24-27. There will be no summer fair due to Birmingham’s hosting of the Commonwealth Games.
