LAPADA is holding a tour celebrating the craftsmanship of antique clocks around Kensington Church Street galleries next month. The tour takes place on May 12 and is part of London Craft Week, from May 9-15.
Highlights will include a French ormolu elephant clock in the Louis XV style from Butchoff Antiques and a Charles II parquetry long clock made in London 1675 (pictured) by James Markwick at Howard Walwyn Antique Clocks.
Asian Art in London
Asian Art in London is gearing up for its 25th edition (October 20-November 5) announcing the return of its gala party for the first time since the start of the pandemic. The event will be held at the V&A, returning to where it was staged for the first AAL in 1998. This edition of AAL also launches several initiatives.
The Emerging Dealers and Galleries participant category and the Under £5K section on its website are to promote younger traders and collectors. It will also hold two London-wide openings, one for Indian & Islamic Art (October 20) and the other for East Asian Art (October 27).
Art Dealers Association of America
The Art Dealers Association of America (ADAA) has announced one of the largest membership classes in its history with the addition of 14 new members. The ADAA is a non-profit organisation of fine art dealers comprising 200 members from more than 30 cities across the US.Newcomers include Peg Alston Fine Arts (New York), Von Lintel Gallery (Santa Monica), GAVLAK (Los Angeles) and Connersmith (Washington, DC).
Online valuations
Antiques.co.uk, the online dealer portal, has launched a free online valuation service. Users are invited to describe their item in as much detail as possible and upload a picture via an online form. This is submitted to an antiques expert to value it.

Tribal Art Fair
The Tribal Art Fair (see Dealer’s Diary, ATG No 2539) will run as an in-person event in Amsterdam in October, after returning as a physical fair last autumn. The spring edition, added during the pandemic, continues to run online.
