Blackbird by Jim Moir – £3000 at Grosvenor Gallery.
Visitors to the St James’s gallery will find goldfinches, orioles, owls, bullfinches and more. The show runs from May 14-28, with prices ranging from £500-17,500. The blackbird is offered for £3000.
Some of the works in the show are humorous and many are intensely colourful, but others are more straightforward studies of the British wild birds that Moir says he has always loved.
He adds: “Look at my birds, that’s just my passion coming through. Not everything has to be comedy… I like to mess about.”
The show is part of London Gallery Weekend, a free public event which unites more than 150 galleries with a focus on Modern and Contemporary art across London from May 13-15.
