A reminder of the part Wallingford played in the English Civil War is on display at the Wallingford branch.
Hungerford (Berkshire) and Wallingford (Oxfordshire) antiques arcades are now both owned by Adrian Gilmour, who launched the former in 1972 (see ATG No 2529).
Rita Kibble, senior manager for the two sites, said: “The first thing we did was to upgrade the security system with state-of-the-art technology. The outside courtyard area is beautiful as is the courtyard garden unit and Adrian has made fantastic cabinets to replace the tired old ones.

"We now have 60 stallholders here including some who are new to us.
“The history of the 17th-18th century building will be on display inside and outside. We also have a replica of Oliver Cromwell’s armour, flags of Charles I and Cromwell and two replica cannons. Wallingford played a very important role in the English Civil War.”
