Mid-Victorian colour change sapphire and rose-cut diamond pendant – estimate £12,000-18,000 at Bearnes Hampton & Littlewood.
The central stone weighing 9.2ct comes with a recent report from the Gem & Pearl Laboratory stating it is a natural Sri Lankan stone and a ‘transparent blue exhibiting a change of colour’.
It was a gift from Rear Admiral Sir William Edward Parry to his daughter Lucy Coote (nee Parry), quite possibly on her marriage to Admiral Robert Coote in February 1854. The estimate is £12,000-18,000.
