More than 70 lots of James Bond-related toys and merchandising from a single-owner consignment opened Potter & Potter’s (20% buyer’s premium) Pop Culture, Disneyana and Collectibles auction in Chicago on June 16.

Most dated from the mid-1960s when Sean Connery was playing the role of 007 in the films that first made the character so globally popular (images from the 1965 film Thunderball featured on several of the best-selling items).

The merchandising was made in various different countries: Japan; Hong Kong; the US and the UK. Some of it proved popular enough to outstrip relatively modest three-figure guides to sell for four-figure sums.
