This original albumen photograph, showing a group of tennis players captioned Bermuda 1877 with a note of the players’ names including Colonel William Laurie Morrison, acting Governor of Bermuda, is for sale at £500 with PBFA member Pennymead Books.

An Englishman named Thomas Middleton brought the first tennis set to Bermuda in 1874 and it was used to set up the first court at Clermont, then the home of Attorney General Sir Samuel Brownlow Gray, at Paget on the shores of Hamilton Harbour, although the location of this photograph is unknown.
