The show comprises a single collection of early 19th century watercolours of fruit and vegetables from south-east Asia, offered together for a price in the region of £50,000.

An Indian or Chinese artist of the ‘Straits School’ completed the works. They depict mangosteen, ratahouli (pepper), lotus, chili, brinjala (aubergine) and many other varieties of exotic plants.

Each is drawn on European laid paper and inscribed with titles thought to be in Indian English.
