Items will be offered over five days with a live auction on October 8-9 at the Hydro Majestic Hotel, Medlow Bath followed by three online auctions from October 10-12.
Set up by Clive and Elizabeth Evatt in Clive’s grandfather’s mansion in Leura in Sydney’s Blue Mountains, the museum closed its doors this year after 40 years of operation.
On offer will be around 1500 lots encompassing many of the major names in toymaking from the previous century. It will include toy and model trains, boats, railwayana, dolls, and childrens’ books and other past playthings at a wide range of price points.
One of the highlights is a 21in (55cm) long Märklin clockwork-powered painted tinplate model of the battleship HMS Terrible from c.1903 with the original wave-painted stand and 14 repainted clip in sailors. Offered with a first edition copy of The Commission of HMS Terrible by George Crowe MMA, it has an estimate of Aus$20,000-40,000.
A smaller and more modestly estimated option is a 11in (28cm) long pre-war clockwork model of the Queen Mary liner (pictured top)with integrated hull stand for display, possibly made in Germany by Arnold. It comes with a guide of Aus$100-200.

A larger item from the museum is a Meccano illuminated shop display model of The Blackpool Tower with a (non-functioning) elevator which stands 4ft7in (1.4m) high, above. It comes with a die-cut cardboard Meccano shop sign and has an estimate of Aus$1000-2000.
