It comprises many etchings, plates, drawings and oils with photographs by the artist.

But one room of the exhibition is devoted to photographs of Freud’s home by David Dawson, shown for the first time. Visible in these interior shots are pieces by Auerbach, Corot, Degas and Bacon.

Sense of calm

Dawson, who worked with Freud regularly during the final 20 years of his life says: “There was a palpable sense of calm, to take in the paintings and sculpture Lucian lived with, that inspired him, lifted his spirits and help him in his own work.

“He always said art comes out of great art.”

The show runs from October 6-December 16. Dawson’s limited edition photographs start at £2000 and Freud’s etchings range from £20,000-135,000.
