The 23in x 2ft 11in (59 x 90cm) oil on canvas called Old barn and winter trees on the Isle of Grain, North Kent drew decent interest against a £1000-2000 estimate and was knocked down at £4000 to a UK online bidder in Cheltenham on August 17.
As well as its pleasing composition, it had been consigned by a collector who had purchased it at a local gallery many years before and had only minimal tiny scuffs and display wear to the frame.
