The Covent Garden market has been held every Monday in the Jubilee Hall since the 1970s, now with 150 stalls, while the Thursday market in Spitalfields offers 85 dealers.

Less well known, perhaps is the company’s Stratford-upon- Avon Antiques Centre, run by Collins’ wife Heather. “The centre has been part of the Sherman & Waterman stable of markets for the past 30 years”, he says.

“It’s in a 17th century building in the heart of Stratford-upon- Avon, has a wonderful courtyard with several vintage and artisan shops and the centre has some dynamic dealers offering a myriad of antiques from Byzantine to post-punk Vivienne Westwood.”
