Trulock & Son, Dublin, trade label priced £100 from Fine Sporting Collectables.
Tricorn organiser David Collier said: “This long-running fair has been held since 2011 at its former venue and has 25 specialist dealers, many of them regulars, selling arms from the medieval period to the early 20th century.”
This ornate trade label, above, from gunmaker Trulock & Son, Dublin, is priced at £100 from Fine Sporting Collectables which is a regular exhibitor at the Bristol fair.
Andrew Iosson of Fine Sporting Collectables said: “Most collectors buy trade labels because they have a gun of the same make and wish to put it with the original case.
“Many trade labels are attractive and sometimes collectors will also buy certain labels to frame or keep for their own sake.”
Birmingham fair
Organised by Arnold Hirowski of Antique Arms and Militaria Exhibitions since 2010, the Birmingham Arms & Miltaria Fair was first established in 1974.
Now run four times a year, the next is at the National Motorcycle Museum, by Birmingham airport, on Sunday, September 18.
Hirowski said: “We usually have 100-110 dealers displaying their stock on 184 tables and often have overseas exhibitors at our fair.”
First World War ship’s gong priced at £595 by Waterloo Militaria.
Waterloo Militaria will be bringing a First World War ship’s gong priced at £595. Made from a 12-pound shell supported by two brass struts, it stands on an oak base which reads SS Benguela, this cartridge was used in the defence of the above vessel on the occasion of her engagement with a German submarine on 16th July 1917.
