Set to debut at the autumn edition of the fair (held from October 4-9), it will host up to 10 dealers on the mezzanine level of Battersea Evolution.

The fair has always featured Contemporary items as part of its wider offering (there is a general dateline of 1979).

However, the new section features dealers devoted to Contemporary craft and design.

Among those signed up for Contemporary on the Mezzanine, as it is called, are Jaggedart, MadeInBritaly and Cavaliero Finn.

The announcement echoes the news in ATG No 2556 that the British Art Fair is hosting a new section dedicated to Contemporary art on an upper floor of its venue.

Increased interest

Battersea fair organiser Jane Juran says: “This new curated space will augment our already wide-ranging offer to clients of the fair, wider than any other antiques or design event.

“There has been such an increased interest in and understanding of the finest artisanship in Contemporary design items among the general public in recent years.”

On the fair’s main floor around 135 dealers are set to exhibit with newcomers so far including Westland London and Laura Bordignon.
