Here we pick out one that caught our eye this week.

This c.1860s ship’s figurehead in the form of a Scottish highlander probably came off a small coastal vessel such as a baroque or schooner.

He sits on a traditional folded base with scrolls and would once have had extended by removable right arm.

Carved from a single piece of solid pine, it is offered by Trinity Marine for £14,400.

Billing itself as the ‘world’s largest traders of marine antiques’, the firm is family owned and offers a wide array of marine industrial lighting, antiques and décor.
