Over-lifesize Greek bronze right arm which was probably cast by a royal workshop, estimate $80,000-100,000 at Hindman.
Among the properties on offer will be a group of models of ancient hands and arms that come from the collection of Arnold-Peter C Weiss MD, a hand surgeon and professor of orthopaedic surgery.
Acquired over nearly three decades and chosen for their aesthetic appeal, they include this highly naturalistic over-lifesize Greek bronze right arm measuring 2ft 2½in (67cm) which was probably cast by a royal workshop.
The arm has a provenance to the Benzaquen family collection, Gibraltar, prior to 1860; then by descent to IS Benzaquen and the Ariadne Gallery, New York, from whom it was acquired by the owner in 2007.
Estimate $80,000-100,000.
