Here are the reporters, editors and senior staff who work on Antiques Trade Gazette.

Matt Ball

Matt Ball brings 30 years' experience in print and digital media to his role of Publishing Director at Antiques Trade Gazette. His previous roles include Global Publishing Lead and Editor-in-Chief at MSN, Microsoft's consumer portal, and Publisher and Editor at Euromoney Institutional Investor.

Laura Chesters

Laura Chesters is deputy editor, news at ATG. She writes articles across the art and antiques market and is developing ATG’s presence on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook. She spent six years working as a business correspondent on national newspapers including the Daily Mail, The Independent and Evening Standard.

Roland Arkell

Roland Arkell is deputy editor, features and supplements. He has been writing about all aspects of the art and antiques market for close to 20 years. 

Alex Capon

Alex Capon is Digital Editor and Art Market Editor for Antiques Trade Gazette, covering all aspects of reporting on auctions for paintings, drawing, prints and sculpture at sales in the UK, US and across the globe.

Frances Allitt

Frances Allitt is the dealers and fairs editor for Antiques Trade Gazette. A graduate of the Courtauld Institute with an MA in history of art, her past experience includes three and a half years as a fine art underwriter at Ecclesiastical Insurance. Her journalism experience includes a regular column in Galleries magazine.

Tom Derbyshire

Tom Derbyshire has been a journalist for nearly 20 years in a variety of roles including editor. At ATG he is chief production editor. He also has special responsibility for reporting on medals and militaria.

Cecile Shannon

Cecile Shannon joined Antiques Trade Gazette team as a senior reporter, having previously worked as a specialist valuer in the silver department at Bonhams. She holds a Masters in Art Market & Appraisal and has a thorough understanding of the art market and how it operates. Having worked extensively in the auction world, including at Lots Road and Crows Auction Gallery, she brings an art valuer's insider knowledge to ATG.

Stewart Cumiskey

Stewart Cumiskey joined Antiques Trade Gazette as a senior reporter. He was one of the founders of QX, a London weekly listings magazine, where he was Editor for over a decade. He's been a regular contributor to Time Out, DJ, Attitude, GT and writes theatre reviews for North West End UK. 

Dom Walbanke

Dom Walbanke joined Antiques Trade Gazette’s content team as a senior reporter, sourcing and writing news stories for the both the website and print newspaper. He has extensive experience as a reporter having written for Rolling Stone, The Independent, FourFourTwo and a range of other publications including the websites growthbusiness.co.uk and smallbusiness.co.uk.

Joan Porter

Joan Porter has been writing the Fairs and Markets column for Antiques Trade Gazette for over a decade.

Richard Fattorini

Richard Fattorini is an independent consultant in Books & Manuscripts and former senior specialist at Sotheby’s where he worked for 24 years.

Anne Crane

Anne Crane written about all aspects of the UK and international art and antiques market. She was the commissioning editor of Antiques Trade Gazette until June 2024 when she retired after 49 years on the ATG staff roster. She is now a freelance writer covering mostly the art market in France.

Gabriel Berner

Gabriel Berner is a freelance journalist who writes for Antiques Trade Gazette, reporting on a wide variety of sales and dealerships.

Jonathan Franks

Freelance reporter Jonathan Franks covers auctions, dealers and fairs in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

Milton Silverman

Milton Silverman is a partner at Streathers Solicitors LLP in London’s West End. He has been advising and assisting galleries, dealers, collectors, auction houses and public institutions on the wide range of legal issues that arise from transacting in art and antiques on a global basis for over 20 years. Milton has been Antiques Trade Gazette’s legal columnist since 2004.

Rachel Fellman

Rachel Fellman came to Antiques Trade Gazette after working as a researcher in the Restitution Department at Christie’s and as community engagement manager for a Heritage Lottery Project. She now works for us as a freelancer visiting and writing about fairs, markets and other events.

Terence Ryle

Terence Ryle is a freelance journalist covering the UK’s provincial auctions. A journalist for the national press for most of his career, he has also been associated with ATG since the paper’s early years.

Richard Falkiner

Richard Falkiner is a coin expert. He compiles the annual coins and medals survey for Antiques Trade Gazette.

Mark Bridge

Mark Bridge joined Antiques Trade Gazette in 1979. He has a deep understanding of the art and antiques business worldwide, as well as a wide experience in publishing and management. He now writes for ATG as a freelancer covering arms and armour.
