The mahogany serpentine-shaped fold-over table, 371/4in (95cm) wide, in the French Hepplewhite style, the figured top with deep cross-banding and lime inlay, the shallow apron centred with a carved flowerhead, slender concertina action cabriole legs, volute feet and brass barrel castors, was in original condition.

The purchaser had bought a similar table at Neale’s and was reported to have turned down an offer by the London trade for this one immediately after the sale, having decided to keep it for himself.
