This Private Bill, which has already had two readings in the House of Lords, seeks to impose a range obligations, including registration, on any dealer in secondhand goods who does business in Kent. The Bill has strong police backing but has been hurried into Parliament without consulting dealers in Kent. It is also intended that the law will apply to auctions and ISVA and RICS who have also arranged discussions with Kent.
Kent agree to discuss problems
UK: FOLLOWING a meeting with LAPADA last week, Kent trading standards officers have agreed to arrange further discussions in early August between trade representatives and those who actually drafted the Kent Bill.
